Good pruning should have a reason behind every cut. We prune trees and shrubs to address dead or damaged branches, improve clearance and structure, manage overgrown growth, and help the plant develop more naturally over time.
Before we start, we look at the tree or shrub, nearby roofs, driveways, landscaping, fences, and what you want to accomplish. We’d rather make thoughtful, targeted cuts than remove more living growth than the situation calls for.
Prune with a purpose — not simply to make the tree smaller.
Tree removal is sometimes the right answer, but it shouldn’t automatically be the first one. We consider removal when a tree is dead, badly damaged, declining, structurally compromised, poorly located, or no longer fits the needs of the property.
When removal is appropriate, the job starts with planning. We look at nearby homes, roofs, fences, landscaping, access, available work space, and whether controlled rope and rigging techniques may be needed to manage the tree carefully around the property.
Your estimate will clearly explain the proposed work and what is included, including how limbs, wood, and jobsite cleanup will be handled.
The goal isn’t simply to get the tree down. It’s to plan the work around everything you want protected.
Severe weather can leave broken limbs, hanging branches, damaged trees, and debris across yards, driveways, and access areas. We look at what has failed, what is still overhead, and how the damage affects the property before recommending the next step.
Depending on the situation, planned storm cleanup may include removing fallen debris, pruning damaged limbs, or removing a tree that can no longer reasonably remain.
After the storm, the first step is figuring out what actually needs to be done.
Learn About Storm-Damage Tree Care
Some mature trees develop weak branch unions, multiple stems, or other structural concerns where supplemental support may be worth considering. We look at the tree’s visible condition, structure, and surrounding property before discussing whether pruning, support, monitoring, or removal makes the most sense.
Tree support is supplemental. It does not repair decay or damaged wood, eliminate every risk, or guarantee that a limb or tree will not fail.
The goal is to help preserve a tree when support is appropriate — not to put a support system in every tree.
Planting a tree is about more than digging a hole. We look at the planting area, available space, nearby structures, and how much room the selected tree or shrub will have as it grows.
During installation, we pay close attention to the root flare, planting depth, the width of the planting hole, and the soil around the roots. We’ll also explain basic watering and mulching so the plant has a strong start after it goes in the ground.
Good tree care starts the day the tree goes in the ground.
Properly placed mulch can help conserve soil moisture, moderate soil temperature, reduce weed competition, and protect the root zone from mower and string-trimmer damage.
We spread mulch over the planting or root area while keeping it pulled back from the trunk or main stems. Piling mulch against the bark can create problems, so we avoid the “mulch volcano” look and focus on a clean, practical layer instead.
Good mulch should protect the roots — not bury the trunk.
